How to fertilize cucumber? Fertilization techniques for cucumbers!

20230330100053

Cucumber grows fast, bears many fruits, and likes fertilizer. However, due to its shallow root distribution, weak fertilizer absorption and tolerance, and its inability to tolerate soil solutions containing high concentrations of ammonium nitrogen, strict requirements are imposed on the type and quantity of fertilizer. So, how to fertilize cucumbers?

1. Reasonable use of organic fertilizers. Cucumber has a large amount of fertilizer application, and after several years of continuous planting, there is a greater accumulation of nutrients in the soil. Therefore, try to apply as much decomposed and harmless organic fertilizer as possible, and it is strictly prohibited to apply immature organic fertilizer. For cucumber continuous cropping fields with a history of more than 3 years, some bio-organic fertilizers such as enzyme and microbial fertilizers can be added. In greenhouses with severe soil borne diseases, some Bacillus bioorganic fertilizers should be added.

2. Fertilization during seedling stage. The soil for cultivating cucumber requires loose texture, good air permeability, and sufficient nutrients. It is necessary to apply a certain amount of phosphate fertilizer at the seedling stage, typically 0.02% to 0.03% of superphosphate. Phosphate fertilizer has a significant effect on promoting the root growth of seedlings. Applying an appropriate amount of superphosphate has a good effect on cultivating strong seedlings. The main effect of increasing phosphorus fertilizer application is to promote root development, increasing root weight, root number, and root length.

3. Heavy application of base fertilizer. Cucumbers require a large amount of nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, and consume nutrients quickly. Applying large amounts of organic fertilizer is the basis for high yield cultivation of cucumbers. Generally, 4000 to 6000 kilograms of decomposed chicken manure or other manure per mu is used as the base fertilizer. In addition, 20 to 30 kg of calcium superphosphate was applied.

4. Skillfully apply topdressing. According to the root distribution characteristics and fertilizer requirements of cucumbers, the amount of topdressing should not be too large each time, and the frequency of topdressing should be more, usually 3-5 times. The principle of "eating less and eating more" should be mastered.
